Team Engagement is a fundamental leader role, encompassing all activities aligning team members with the desired organisational outcomes, and guiding individuals to support and achieve those.

Standardising Processes means identifying and driving activities ina common way. Deviations from the agreed standardised processes should be discouraged other than as authorised trials to identify potentially better ways of working, and if proven, this then becomes locked in as the Standardised process to be followed. 

Metrics & Targets 

Metrics need to align with customer needs and be cascaded to ensure all work supports and enhances the desired business outcomes. 

Targets need to stretch teams to perform, while also being achievable; a critical step in target development is engagement with and ownership by those who will be held to achieving those results. 

Manage Performance 

Managing Performance involves identifying the current performance and any gaps to desired outcomes (targets). There should be simple visual displays of all metrics, their targets, current, past, and predicted performance. Conversations about performance focus on actions to improve performance either through closing performance gaps, or achieving enhanced results. 

A simple model to guide conversations is for each metric to track Results, Reasons, and Responses.

Waste can either be limiting your current performance as a gap to agreed targets, or represent a gap between current performance and some desired future state.

Identifying the Best Solutions means having methods to capture and analyse options, determining which both best supports the organisational purpose, and has the greatest likelihood of success, considering project risks and change management.
